BHUBANESWAR: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday suspended Sukdev Meher, engineer-in-chief of water resources department on allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
Notably, the vigilance sleuths had conducted raids at the house and office of Meher in December 2015.
During a search, the vigilance sleuths found that Meher had acquired movable and immovable assets worth Rs 2.84 crore during his incumbency as a public servant.
He has deposits in banks worth Rs 92.79 lakh, cash of Rs 51,000, vehicles and household articles worth Rs 7.3 lakh, a flat in the Capital City worth Rs 30 lakh and houses at Baramunda and Balangir and the market complex valued together at Rs 1.28 crore.
