KORAPUT: The Koraput police on Saturday claimed to have cracked the Kella Nagar murder case by arresting the accused for allegedly killing a woman in Jeypore.
Notably, a woman named G Tirupati Amma of Kella Nagar, Jeypore got killed by some unknown culprit on December 14, 2015. Police registered a case and investigated it.
Loot was the prime motive behind this murder, said Jeypore Police.
Few numbers of ornaments seized from the accused that was in possession of him. After the investigation, police detected the case and arrested the cousin brother Y Ravi Kumar as the prime accused.
Ravi looted the gold ornaments of approximately 350 gram from the woman after killing her. He left no clues that police could trace him even after the support of sniffer dog and forensic team.
The accused Y Ravi mortgaged huge amount of gold at Jeypore ICICI bank, said Koraput SP Charan Singh Meena.
Police cross-checked the gold ornament’s model with the bank authority with the model prescribed by the husband of the deceased. Then police detained Ravi Kumar and interrogated him that led the confession of the accused.
