Junior Engineer Of Keonjhar Arrested On Graft Charges


BHUBANESWAR: The vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested two persons including junior engineer for demanding a bribe in Odisha.

Arun Kumar Swain, junior engineer of Patna block in Keonjhar district and Ramesh Chandra Mohanta have been arrested by vigilance officers of  Balasore division for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.3,000 from complainant Basanta Kumar Nayak.

Nayak alleged that he had executed land development work and requested the accused the junior engineer to prepare 2nd  R/A bill for the said work.  However, Swain demanded Rs.3,000 for this purpose.

Finding no other alternative,  the complainant reported to vigilance.

As per direction of S.P, Vigilance, Balasore, a  trap was laid on 29 April this year. The junior engineer was caught red handed by vigilance sleuths while accepting the bribe.

Swain handed over the bribe money to one private person Ramesh Chandra Mahanta.  The bribe  money of Rs.3,000 was recovered from the possession of Mohanta.
