Odisha To Tie Up With WTC For Export Promotion

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government would ink a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with World Trade Centre (WTC), Mumbai to promote and strengthen the export activities of the state, said an official on Tuesday.

WTC has expressed its interest to tie-up with Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) to support, promote and strengthen the export activities of the state.

WTC having its strong presence in 92 countries and 332 centres all over the world has decided to extend all the support for the export promotion of the state.

“There is a huge demand for mineral and non-mineral products of the state at international markets, particularly handicrafts, handlooms, spices, cashew, marine products and service sectors such as IT and tourism,” said a letter from MSME department sent to OSIC.

Though there is a lot of demand for such products, yet the small and medium industries sector entrepreneurs of the state are not able to export their products due to lack of proper information, logistic arrangements and handholding supports, said the official.

He said OSIC, having a strong business network, would provide a platform where it can facilitate the export activities for the state small and medium enterprises.

The Odisha government has projected an export target of Rs.38,714 crore by 2022-23 at an annual growth rate of 10 percent.
