BHUBANESWAR: A central fact-finding team would visit Nagada village of Jajpur district, where 19 children died in malnutrition in last three months.
A five-member fact-finding team of Union ministry of health and family welfare led by joint secretary Chetan B Sanghi would visit the village on August 1, said a government official on Sunday.
The other members of the team are deputy commissioner (child health) Sila Deb, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) additional director Awadesh Kumar, Doctor of Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital Praveen Kumar and advisor of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) Arun Singh.
The team would visit the spot to take stock of the situation and discuss with Jaipur district administration and state government officials over the issue.
Notably, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had urged three Ministers-Health Minister JP Nadda, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Sanjay Gandhi and Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram-to send the fact-finding team from their ministries to ascertain the various factors that have led to the death of children.
Meanwhile, the state government has asked the Jaipur collector to furnish an Action Taken Report (ATR) on the death of 19 children due to malnutrition.
