Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has constituted a state steering committee for implementation of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in the state.
The committee to be headed by Skill Development and Technical Education Secretary will monitor and recommend the technical institutions and polytechnics for implementation of the scheme.
PMKVY is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of the scheme is to enable the youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.
The other members of the committee include technical education director, employment director, representatives of NSDC, national project coordinator (MHRD), director in-charge (PMU) and regional officer (AICTE).
The first meeting of the committee is scheduled to be held on August 16, said an official.
