Odisha Bandh: Congress Leaders Courted Arrest

Bhubaneswar: Several Congress leaders including Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prasad Harichandan have courted arrest while observing Odisha bandh on Mahanadi issue on Tuesday.

Leaders like Niranjan Patnaik, Hemananda Biswal, Jaydev Jena, Srikant Jena, Chiranjib Biswal, Ranjib Biswal and leader of opposition Narasingh Mishra have courted arrest in Bhubaneswar.

The Congress party was observing dawn-to-dusk Odisha bandh protesting the construction of projects and barrages on Mahanadi river by Chhattisgarh government.

Meanwhile, several ministers were seen entering state secretariat through the back gate riding on pillions of bikes. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik went to Naveen Nivas amid tight security.

Several Congress workers staged picketing in front of state secretariat.
