Bhubaneswar: About 31,874 block grant secondary school teachers and employees have decided to stage a protest against the Odisha government for not fulfilling their demands, on September 8 at Lower PMG.
“We called off our 42-day long strike (August-September 2015) after getting an assurance from the government. We also recouped the losses of students through extra classes. However, the department has not released the salary of the strike period,” said Block Grant Secondary School Teachers and Employees Association (BGSSTAEA) president Prasanta Pati.
Block grant teachers and employees also demanded salaries at par with the government school teachers.
“We are qualified like government school teachers, but we are not getting the same salary. The education department must withdraw the concept of EPF (Employee Provident Fund) and introduce a pension scheme for block grant teacher and employees,” said BGSSTAEA general secretary Prasanta Mohapatra.
They also accused the educational department of ignoring block grant schools and demanded justice from the government.
