Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to set up an agriculture mall at Patrapada in Bhubaneswar to ensure that all types of agricultural products are available under one roof.
The decision was taken recently at a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy on Sunday.
The mall will come up over one acre of land at Patrapada, where a wholesale trading center of vegetable has been proposed by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), sources said.
The development authority has earmarked 10-acre land for the wholesale trading center while it has agreed to provide one acre of land to the agriculture department for the mall, they added.
The mall will have all types of agricultural inputs like seeds, seedlings, quality planting materials of flowers, fruits, vegetables, fertilizers, pesticides, implements, etc. Besides, a site for the sale of fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers would also set up in the mall.
The directorate of horticulture has been asked to prepare the detail project report (DPR) within a month. As per the BDA’s proposal, the Unit I vegetable market will be shifted to Patrapada, where a big market will be set up having facilities like cold storages, godowns, shops, etc.
