Odisha Congress To Organise ‘Jala Chetana Yatra’ On Mahanadi Issue


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress on Thursday announced to organize ‘Jala Chetana Yatra’ in nine districts of the state over Mahanadi projects issue.

The party also announced to stage a dharna at the community health centres across the state on September 19 protesting against the deteriorating health services.

These were finalized that the coordination meeting of Odisha Congress here on Thursday.

The party would hold the Chetana Yatra in the first week of October, said PCC president Prasad Harichandan.

The party would take out rallies and organize conventions to make people aware of the Mahanadi issue and the inefficiency of the Odisha government to deal with Chhattisgarh government, said Harichandan.

The nine districts are Sambalpur, Boudh, Angul, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Sonepur and Kendrapada.

Earlier, the state Congress had held Odisha Bandh over the Mahanadi project issue.
