Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to upgrade the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) into a super speciality hospital, said an official on Thursday.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said a sub-committee had been constituted for the development of VIMSAR in Sambalpur.
The sub-committee would submit its report by October, said Padhi.
The panel would recommend on the infrastructure facilities and increase seats in the hospital.
The issues were discussed at the governing body meeting of VIMSAR chaired by the Chief Secretary here on Thursday.
Notably, patients come from 10 western Odisha districts, besides neighboring Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand to VIMSAR.
