Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra on Tuesday informed that the Congress members would meet President of India Pranab Mukherjee to protect the interest of Odisha on Mahanadi project dispute.
Mishra informed the state Assembly that the party would meet the President on Mahanadi issue and urged the ruling BJD to join them to seek the intervention of the President over the issue.
“We can’t remain silent on the Mahanadi water dispute. We will meet the President soon. The ruling party members can go with us if they want,” said the Leader of Opposition.
He said the party will try its best to protect the interest of the state.
Notably, the state government is yet to take any stand as to what steps would be taken to resolve the water sharing issue with the Chhattisgarh government.
