Bhubaneswar: After the culmination of ‘Raban Podi’, the Commissionerate Police have made elaborate arrangements for the immersion of idols of Goddess Durga in makeshift ponds in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to be held on Wednesday.
In Bhubaneswar, the idols will be immersed in temporary ponds that have been constructed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) near the Kuakhai, Daya and Bhargavi rivers to prevent pollution of the river.
Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said all the puja committees in Bhubaneswar have been instructed to finish the immersion of idols by 12 midnight.
The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has also constructed makeshift ponds for the immersion of the idols.
Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora said artificial ponds at Devigada on the bank of Kathajodi river have been constructed for immersion of idols of Goddess Durga.
The Commissionerate Police have also made security arrangements for the immersion procession of the idols of goddess Durga in the twin cities.
The police have asked the puja committees to keep the sound level of the DJs below 58 decibel to minimize noise pollution.
As many as 30 platoons of police force will be deployed for the immersion procession in Bhubaneswar to maintain law and order during the immersion procession.
