Striking Doctors Join Duty In Athagarh SDH


Athagarh: Doctors of Athagarh sub-divisional hospital, who were on a strike protesting assault on a doctor by attendants of a patient, on Thursday joined their duty.

The doctors were protesting the assault on doctor Chandan Gadnayak by attendants of a patient on Monday morning.

Following the incident, a high-level meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Cuttack district collector Nirmal Mishra, which was attended by CDMO Prafulla Behera, Cuttack SP Madhav Chandra Sahoo, SDPO Krutibash Jena and other officials.

In the meeting, it was decided to open a police outpost immediately inside the medical campus to protect the doctors from any assault by the outsiders and attendants of the patients.

The meeting also requested the striking doctors to join their normal duty as their prime demand of arresting the accused has been fulfilled.

One Papuni Das, son of Pravat Das of Uparasahi surrendered before Athagarh police in the morning on Thursday.
