KISS Inks MoU With Adani Foundation For Mayurbhanj Institute


Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has signed a MoU with Adani Foundation, Ahmadabad to set up a branch of the institute in the tribal populated district of Mayurbhanj.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS and Priti Adani, Chairperson, Adani Foundation signed the MoU on October 20.

The Foundation has agreed to finance the infrastructural facilities. The signing in was done in the presence of Adani Group President, Goutam Adani, and Vice-Chairman Karan Adani. In fact, KISS has purchased the land in Baripada, the district headquarters of Mayurbhanj, five years back for setting up the replica of KISS to impart quality education to the underprivileged tribal children of the district and other districts.

Dr. Samanta requested Adani Foundation regarding the opening of a new branch of KISS in Mayurbhanj. The President of Adani Foundation was aware of KISS and agreed to help in opening the KISS branch in Mayurbhanj.

As per the MoU, Adani Foundation will provide one-time infrastructure assistance for this. Expressing his happiness, Adani said, “It is our pleasure to be associated with a noble cause like KISS. The Mayurbhanj branch will start operating from the next academic year. It would provide underprivileged tribal students of Mayurbhanj and adjacent districts quality education.”

KISS has already purchased land in many tribal populated districts including Koraput, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sundargarh and Keonjhar to set up the replica of KISS. For this, Samanta has been contacting many corporate houses for their support for last two years. In the meantime, some corporate houses have agreed to support the opening of KISS branches.

Besides Emami-Balasore and Adani – Mayurbhanj other 6 corporate houses have been agreed to support KISS branch in other 6 districts.

As many as 8 to 10 branches of KISS would be started in the districts concerned in the tribal districts very soon, informed Samanta, adding that in each branch 1200 students will be taken.

He thanked Adani Foundation for their support for KISS-Mayurbhanj. KISS is the largest tribal institute of its kind to provide education from KG to PG with free food and residential facilities more than 25000 tribal children of Odisha and the neighboring states.
