Odisha Govt Preparing To Face Cyclone Kyant

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday alerted all the district collectors about the cyclonic storm Kyant, which is likely to move towards Odisha.

“The state government is well prepared to face any possible eventuality. We have asked the district collectors, ODRAF and Fire service units to be on alert,” said Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Mohapatra.

Mohapatra advised farmers of the state to keep the harvested crops covered in their yards.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik called an emergency meeting on Tuesday to review preparedness to meet the possible cyclonic storm Kyant.

“The deep depression over east central Bay of Bengal is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours. The cyclone may recurve from Myanmar coast and it would move towards the northwest Bay of Bengal. The impact of the cyclonic storm on Odisha would be around October 26-27. It is likely to have an impact on central and north Odisha,” said Bhubaneswar Met center Director Sarat Chandra Sahu.
