Nine Persons Get Life Imprisonment In 2012 Double Murder Case

Rourkela: A local court here on Wednesday awarded rigorous life imprisonment to nine persons in a double murder case occurred in May 2012.

The Additional District & Session Judge Court, Bonei ordered the sentence in the double murder case , which had occurred under Bonei police station of Sundargarh district in May 2012.

The court also ordered a fine of Rs. 10,000 each, failing which they will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment of another one year.

Sources  said,  a group of ten persons, all native of Naik Satakuta village under Bonei police station, had stormed into the house of one Ghana Shyam Naik, also in same village May 8, 2012.

The accused were armed with several weapons and attacked the family members of Ghana Shyam Nayak. In their attack, Ghana Shyam Naik died on the spot whereas his cousin brother Kumbhar Naik and four others of their family had sustained critical injuries. Kumbhar Naik died on the way to the hospital, said sources.

The ten accused had a family dispute with the family members of Ghana Shyam Naik, sources added.

The police had arrested the ten accused. However, during the trial, one accused had fallen sick in jail and thereafter died.
