JE Death Toll Rises To 76 In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Japanese Encephalitis (JE) claimed two more lives of children in Malkangiri district on Sunday taking the death toll to 76 in 51 days.

The deceased have been identified as Susila Padiami (2) of Daniguda block and Laxmi Madkami (4) of Gamphakonda village under Kalimela block of Malkangiri district.

Even though the state government is claiming that it is taking all possible steps to arrest the vector-borne disease, there is no sign of abatement in the tribal dominated district.

A central team had recently visited the spot. The state government is likely to begin the vaccination process in December this year.
