Bhubaneswar: The capital city of Odisha, is the first Indian city selected as one of the finalists to compete for the World Smart City Awards, organized by Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), to be held at Barcelona in Spain.
The award would be announced on November 16.
“It’s one of the prestigious awards for a city from across the world. We had submitted the proposal before the world Smart City council and now, it has been learned that Bhubaneswar has been selected as one of the finalists especially in the innovation and renovation category,” informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Krishan Kumar.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bhubaneswar Smart City Project Limited Vinel Krishna said, “We are very happy as Bhubaneswar topped the list of 20 Indian cities shortlisted to compete for the World Smart City Awards. We are confident it will beat other cities in the next round.”
The aim of World Smart City Awards is to recognize, promote and support innovative solutions or strategies that can potentially change citizen’s lives by increasing efficiency, generating business and improving the quality of life.
