Bhubaneswar: After rolling out its premium bus service ‘Airabata’, the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) has decided to launch another luxury service known as ‘Rajdhani’ for which it will purchase 75 modern vehicles.
OSRTC has decided to procure 35 AC deluxe buses initially to connect Bhubaneswar with some district headquarters and towns. Later, the service will be extended to other parts of the state in a phased manner, said an OSRTC official.
According to OSRTC officials, these modern buses will be extremely comfortable, have personalized lighting option and mobile charging points at every seat among several others luxurious features.
“The new Rajdhani bus service will provide tough competition to private operators. We will ensure the service is safer and more comfortable as compared to private bus services,” OSRTC official said.
The OSRTC had recently launched its premium bus service ‘Airabata’ under which one Volvo bus each is running on the Bhubaneswar-Puri and Bhubaneswar-Kolkata route. It had planned to introduce six Volvo and six Scania buses under Airabata’.
At present, 373 OSRTC buses are plying on various routes across the state.
