Joint Command Control Centre to counter Maoists menace in Odisha, Andhra border


Bhubaneswar: A Joint Command Control Centre (JCCC) will be set up taking the officials of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to carry out Maoists operation along the border of the two states.

JCCC will be set up for better coordination between the two states to carry out the operation.

Recently, Greyhounds of Andhra Pradesh and Special Operation Group of Odisha gunned down 28 ultras in Malkangiri district.

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has advised for the formation of JCCC between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, said sources.

Similar JCCC will also be formed between Bihar and Jharkhand for Inter State Operations and intelligence sharing, said sources.

Notably, DGP KB Singh had stated that they would hold meetings with Andhra Pradesh officials to plan strategies to eliminate the left wing extremism in the two states.

While 59 incidents of Maoist violence occurred in Odisha during 2016, 39 Maoists were neutralized. Besides, 35 hardcore Maoists have been arrested and 30 have surrendered, sources said.
