BJP seeks Governor’s intervention in Mayor’s sex scandal case


Bhubaneswar: The state unit of BJP on Friday sought the intervention of Odisha Governor SC Jamir for a fair probe into the sex scandal and murder of Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi.

The party also demanded the resignation of BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena for his alleged involvement in the sex video and the murder case.

“The party has sought immediate ouster of the Mayor. The party also asked that the other person in the video should be brought into the purview of the investigation,” said BJP president Basanta Panda.

“It is being alleged that an Engineering Student Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi Mohanty who was in possession of the sex VDO was allegedly planned and murdered by Bhubaneswar Mayor and ruling BJD State Secretary Ananta Narayan Jena,” said the memorandum.

“Despite several clinching evidences to establish the engineering student did not have an unnatural death, it was most probably the result of a planned execution of murder of the student. The police to save the powerful Mayor, who is very close to state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” it added.

Notably, BJP had gheraoed DGP office in Cuttack on Thursday demanding action against the Mayor. It also observed Bhubaneswar bandh on Wednesday.
