BJB college declared sine die, examinations cancelled

Bhubaneswar: The examinations in BJB college were canceled and closed sine die following students unrest in the campus on Monday.

The boarders of all hostels have been directed to vacate the hostels immediately.

“All remaining examinations starting with the second sitting examinations of 26.12.2016 up to 30.12.2016 will be rescheduled and notified later on,” said a notification issued by BJB college principal.

The authorities declared sine die for the second time this year after a clash erupted between students and non-students. The unrest in the campus rekindled since Sunday evening.

The students also ransacked the campus protesting the inaction of police to take action against the non-students, who were frequently entering into the college campus.

Sources said four non-students entered the campus and attacked students of the Ambedkar Hostel of the college on Sunday following which three students were severely injured.
Police have detained one non-student in the matter. The injured students are Bhilat Mallik, Kanhu, and Avon who were admitted to Capital Hospital.

Students have staged a dharna on the Cuttack-Puri road protesting inaction of police on non-students entering the campus and attacking hostel residents. The protests continued on Monday when many students appearing for their exams had to return with no classes or exams conducted owing to protests.
