Bhubaneswar: BJD president Naveen Patnaik has started holding meetings with the party leaders to chalk out strategies and selecting candidates for the ensuing panchayat polls.
Patnaik has advised the party leaders to select the candidates having winning possibilities in Zilla Parishad polls.
Leaders of party’s organizational districts such as Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bolangir met Patnaik at his residence on Monday and held talks regarding the electoral prospects and issues related to candidates selection.
According to the sources, the leaders also discussed strategies to ensure victory for party candidates in the ensuing polls.
While the observers have been advised to keep watch on every development and party activities in their respective districts, the BJD chief also directed the party activists to coordinate among themselves.
“The Chief Minister has taken note of the discontentment in the party over the selection of candidates in the districts and has asked senior leaders to prepare a list of non-controversial candidates having a clean image,” said party’s vice-president and senior BJD leader Surya Narayan Patro.
