Dalmia Cement, Thriveni Earthmovers bag mines in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited and Thriveni Earthmovers Private Limited (TEPL) have bagged Kottameta limestone mines and Lasarda-Pacheri manganese mines in Odisha respectively.

Both the companies bagged the mines through e-auction.

“Dalmia Cement submitted the highest final price offer of 12.05% and is hereby declared the preferred bidder for grant of mining lease of Kottameta limestone block,” said a notification issued by the steel and mines department.

Thriveni Earthmovers Private Limited submitted highest final price offer of 44.65%  and is hereby declared the preferred bidder for grant of composite license of Lasarda-Pacheri manganese ore block, the notification said.

Feegrade, Ambey Mining, GV Mines Minerals & Metals and National Mineral Development Corporation had participated in the financial bidding process for the manganese block. The block located in Keonjhar district has an estimated reserve of 11 million tonne.

Adani Cement, Hira Cement and Dalmia Cement participated for the limestone block. It is located in Malkangiri district. The block has an estimated reserve of 98.69 million tonne.

While Dalmia Cement would directly get mining lease as the Kottameta block was auctioned at G-2 level, TEPL would have to initially apply for prospecting license followed by mining lease.

The state government is yet to estimate the volume of revenue it is going to receive from the two blocks.

Earlier, Essar Steel had bagged the Ghorhaburhani-Sagasahi iron ore block in Sundargarh district. The state government expects revenue of nearly Rs 11,000 crore in 50 years.
