Hockey player Birendra Lakra ties knot

Jharsuguda:  Indian hockey team defender Birendra Lakra on Monday tied the knot at a church here.

The 26-year-old Olympian defender got married to Rashmita Kerketta, a resident of Amalipalli police colony in Jharsuguda. The marriage was solemnized at Arnold Church here. Rashmita is currently an employee of IT giant Infosys.

Hockey star Birendra Lakra, said, “I will continue to do what I was earlier doing for my team. I will do better for my team.”

“He has been supporting me since the beginning. I hope it will continue in the future. He will continue to play hockey as before,” said Rashmita Kerketta.

BJD MP and former Indian hockey team captain Dilip Tirkey and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

“I extend my best wishes to both Lakra and his wife. I wish them a happy and peaceful conjugal life ahead,” said MP and former Indian hockey team captain Dilip Tirkey.
