6 killed, 4 injured in Kalahandi road accident

Kalahandi (Odisha): At least six persons including two women were killed and four others injured severely when a truck carrying iron plates overturned at Ambapani Ghat in Kokasara block of Kalahandi district here on Saturday.  

Police said the truck (OR K 8363) turned turtle as its driver lost control over the wheels while it was on its way to Medalpur causing the death of all the six on the spot.

The truck was on the way to Nabarangpur from Bhawanipatna, said police.

Local police arrived at the spot and rescued the injured and recovered the bodies of the deceased with the help of the locals.

All the four injured persons have been admitted to Kokasara hospital and the bodies have been sent for postmortem. All of them were said to be daily labourers.

While the driver and helper of the truck fled the spot soon after the accident, police have seized the truck and started investigation.
