Bhubaneswar: In the wake of growing instances of attacks on doctors in health institutions, the Odisha government on Wednesday directed the district collectors for tightening of security in all government hospitals to ensure protection to doctors and staff.
In a letter to the district collectors, Health secretary P.K. Meherda directed to install CCTV cameras in government hospitals and issue ID cards to regular and contractual employees of the hospitals.
He said visitors pass is to be introduced for the indoor patients while the entry of the general public and vehicles is to be regulated strictly to stop the thorough fare.
He said a public redressal system would be developed in which the aggrieved attendants may approach the health authority at the time of need rather than taking the law into their hands.
