Cyclonic storm ‘Mora’ likely to trigger heavy rain in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Many parts of Odisha are likely to witness heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours as the deep depression formed over east-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into cyclonic storm ‘Mora’.

The cyclonic storm has centred over the Bay of Bengal about 590 km near the south east of Paradip, said an IMD release.

“The system is likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during next 12 hours. It is very likely to move North-Northeastwards and cross Bangladesh coast between longitude 91.0ºE and 92.0ºE near Chittagong around 30th May 2017 forenoon,” said the release.

Under its impact, rain and thundershower may occur at many districts of coastal Odisha and some areas in the interior region in the next 24 hours.
