Congress MLA misbehaves with Odisha Secretariat security personnel

Bhubaneswar: Congress MLA Chandrasekhar Majhi on Wednesday courted controversy when he tried to forcibly enter the Odisha Secretariat defying the security norms laid down for entry into the premises.

Majhi, MLA from Kotpad, was stopped at Gate No. 1 by the security personnel when he tried to enter the State Secretariat riding a scooter.

Furious at the action, the legislator allegedly misbehaved with the security personnel and attempted to slap one of them.

However, the Congress MLA denied of misbehaving the security personnel.

“I am not aware of the security norms. I felt insulted by the way the security personnel behaved with me. I didn’t misbehave with them,” said Majhi.

The Secretariat security norms say that pedestrians and bikers are not permitted to enter the secretariat through Gate No. 1 from 9.00 am to 6.30 pm. However, there are other gates earmarked for two wheelers.
