Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is mulling over shifting the protest site from Lower PMG to elsewhere in the capital city.
BMC Commissioner Krishan Kumar has sought the views of Police Commissioner YB Khurania on land identification.
In a letter to Khurania, BMC Commissioner informed that at least five places in Bhubaneswar have been identified by the BMC following a high-level meeting under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, held on August 5 this year.
The places which have been shortlisted are-Baramunda Field owned by State Sports Department, Unit 3 Exhibition Ground owned by IDCO, Unit 6 field at Ward No. 46 of BMC, Indira Maidan in Nayapalli Mouza and Janta Maidan.
The BMC Commissioner asked Khurania to submit a report to him on the feasibility and maximum delegation holding-capacity of the shortlisted grounds.
A final call on the shifting of the protest ground would be taken after BMC gets a report from the Police Commissioner and submits it to the Home Department.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate of Police made it mandatory to submit an undertaking through an indemnity bond to it by any party wishing to hold dharna or rally at the Lower PMG Square.
After submission of the undertaking, the parties would be liable and responsible for any damage to private and public property caused by the protest or rally.
