Kunduli gang rape victim’s suicide: Congress demands CM’s ouster

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader Jayadev Jena on Sunday demanded the resignation of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik describing the purported discrepancies in two reports of forensic tests conducted on the Kunduli rape survivor.

The Kunduli gang-rape victim committed suicide on January 22 after being denied justice, as the state government attempted to cover up the heinous crime, said Jena.

“After being denied justice, the minor tribal girl committed suicide. Even after her death, she is also deprived of getting justice,” rued Jena.

The former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president said that one forensic test report of the girl conducted by the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Bhubaneswar on October 18 last year, eight days after she alleged rape, showed traces of the semen of two different persons -blood groups A and B -on her clothes.

When the report was aired on news channel, the laboratory dubbed in a preliminary one and said the final report showed no trace of semen on the girl’s clothes, said the Congress leader.

“How can there be such a complete contrast between the two reports of the same laboratory. Now, it is crystal clear that conspiracy has been hatched to cover up the crime,” said Jena.
