Sambalpur custodial death: Dharmendra alleges police serving political masters

New Delhi: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said Sambalpur custodial death like situation occurs when the police instead of maintaining law and order serve their political masters.

“The Sambalpur custodial death is an unfortunate incident. Such incidents do occur when the police forget their duty to maintain law and order and serve for the political masters,” said Pradhan.

He said Odisha is passing through a constitutional crisis due to the inefficiency of the state government.

Pradhan said the police are trying to suppress the Sambalpur custodial death by registering a case of unnatural death.

“In a democracy, the people would not tolerate the police atrocity. They will definitely revolt and give a befitting reply,” said the Minister.
