Bhubaneswar: In order to foster a healthy spirit of competition and improving the aspiration level of the trainees and trainers of all Government ITIs, the Odisha skill development authority is conducting a two-day “ITI Fest 2018”, sports and cultural meet at Bhubaneswar.
The meet will host 700 participants including 136 female participants from all 48 Govt ITIs participating in different categories in sports and cultural events. This state-level meet is first of its kind in the entire country.
The two-day event which will be hosted at different venues across the city including Kalinga Stadium was inaugurated by Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Usha Devi.
Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, OSDA and Sanjay Kumar Singh, Secretary, SD&TE Department along with senior officials of the Government were present in the opening ceremony, which was attended by more than 1200 people.
Director of Technical Education, Balwant Singh welcomed all dignitaries, participants, officials, guests and media.
He said the objective of conducting ITI fest is to expose trainer and trainees to competitive spirit and teamwork.
Usha Devi highlighted the Government’s effort to provide opportunity and platform to the youth of Odisha for their overall development and showcase their talent.
She expressed her joy with the big number of girl participants in ITI fest 2018.
She said, “I firmly believe that the event will help in fostering a healthy spirit of competition and meet aspirations of our young participants. Sports is all about teamwork, about learning and winning from failures and about determination.”
Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, OSDA said, “Government is committed to promote quality Skill Development in the State and provide an opportunity to the youths for competing at the world level.”
He expressed his happiness while sharing unique initiatives happening in Odisha ITI ecosystem like dress code of trainees and trainer designed by National Institute of Fashion Technology, Leadership development program for ITI faculties at Singapore, State level ITI fest etc.
Skill Development and Technical Education secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh said that he is overwhelmed to see the response and cheerfulness of participants of the events.
He advised ITI trainees to participate in the state-level competition of India skills 2018 in a big way and get laurels at world skills 2019 for the state.
ITI Fest 2018 will host the competition in Sports and Cultural across 35 events. These events will be based on team and solo competitions. All 48Govt ITIs across the state have been divided into 6 zones namely Balangir, Balasore, Berhampur, Cuttack, Koraput and Sambalpur.
The winners of the events will be felicitated at the state level function during the inauguration of Odisha Skills 2018 competition.
