Startup India boot camp inaugurated at Sri Sri University


Bhubaneswar: Sri Sri University on Wednesday flagged off the Startup India- Odisha Yatra at its premises under the Odisha Startup Yatra.

The inaugural ceremony of the Startup India boot camp also included the culmination of the week-long successful journey of the National Startup Week.

The one-day boot camp event is aimed at searching for entrepreneurial talent in the university and creating a startup-friendly ecosystem not only in the institution but in the entire state as a whole.

Attending the ceremony, MSME Minister Prafulla Samal highlighted the importance of good education in the development of society.

He congratulated Sri Sri University for giving a boost to budding entrepreneurs at the very grass root level.

“If you can do a small part of what is expected of you by the society due to your brand association, you will be able to transform your nation and the world,” said Samal.

MSME secretary L.N Gupta highlighted the main objective behind the introduction of boot camps in the Startup India- Odisha Yatra programme.

He also stated that this programme aims at sensitising Tier 2, Tier 3 towns about the startup ecosystem and encourage the aspiring entrepreneurs and youth to set up their ventures in the state.

“We should think big. We should dream big because life is too short to think and dream small,” said L.N. Gupta.

Prof P. Srinivas Subbarao, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies highlighted the important role played by the Government of Odisha to promote Entrepreneurship.

He also mentioned that already 220 students had pitched their ideas for the Startup India Odisha Yatra boot camp.

Dr Nand Lal, the Vice Chancellor of Sri Sri University, stated that opportunities and challenges are there for the youths of the country who wish to pursue a different path of entrepreneurship.

He motivated and wished best of luck to the participants and students by quoting “There is a tremendous amount of craftsmanship between a great idea and a great product”.

The students will present their ideas in the extensive ideation workshop on 21st and 22nd February which will be mentored by experts. More than 400 ideas will be pitched by the aspiring students from which the foremost ideas will be selected for an extreme acceleration programme. The selected ideas will get cash prizes and recognition.
