Rail Roko at Rourkela demanding operation of limestone mine

Bhubaneswar: Train services were disrupted near Rourkela as hundreds of villagers staged a Rail Roko demanding reoperation of Purunapani limestone mine at the earliest.

Villagers under the Bisra Sangram Samiti sat on tracks at Nuagaon level crossing on Tuesday morning.

The villagers have been demanding resumption of mining at the Purunapani limestone for long. The mine has remained out of operation area.

“We have been demanding that limestone be mined at the Purunapani mine for providing livelihood to locals. But our demand has remained unheeded,” said agitators.
