Bride’s vehicle kills woman, injures two in Puri

Bhubaneswar: A woman was killed and two men sustained critical injuries when a van carrying a newlywed couple ran over them at Nuagodi Chhak near Pipili on Puri-Bhubaneswar National Highway early Friday morning.

The deceased woman has been identified as Kokila Behera and injured as Nabaghan and Panchu, all of a nearby village.

The injured two are now undergoing treatment at the Pipili Government hospital, said sources.

According to reports, the three persons were waiting for a bus at Nuagodi Chhak to go to Pipili Haat to sale coir products when the mishap occurred.

The car carrying bride, bridegroom and others was returning to Gop. Police suspect that the driver’s drowsiness led to the mishap.

The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
