Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said the government has proposed to set up an Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) incubation centre and an Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in the state.
Information Technology Investment Region will house IT, ITES, Electronics Hardware Manufacturing and Research and Development Centre.
The Chief Minister said the government has plans to frame a rural Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) scheme to promote the establishment of BPO units.
“Today Odisha is one of the fastest growing economies of the country and has become a major investment destination. Major IT companies like Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, TCS, MindTree, HDFC Bank have already invested in the state and many of them are in the process of expansion,” said Patnaik while inaugurating the Software Technology Park of JSS.
He said the government is working towards creating IT & Electronics based jobs for educated youth through skill development and promoting innovation & entrepreneurship along with investment in IT, ITES, ESDM sectors.
In places where STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) stations are situated, employment opportunities are expected to be generated in the state, he added.
Presently STPIs in the State are located in Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Rourkela and Berhampur.
