Thunderstorm likely to lash 11 Odisha districts


Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind is likely to hit 11 districts of Odisha on Saturday.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said the thunderstorm is likely to lash several parts of Odisha between 2 pm and 6 pm on Saturday.

The districts are Balasore, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Boudh.

“Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph likely to occur over the districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Boudh between 2 pm and 6 pm,” a bulletin of the meteorological centre said.

Bhubaneswar Regional Centre Director Sarat Sahu said Nor’wester rain is likely to hit most parts of Odisha in next 24 hours.

Sahu said as model indicates, the situation is likely to continue till April 13, as a result, several parts of Odisha will receive rain during the period.
