Angul: Normal life has been affected as the Angul Janajiban Suraksha Samiti observed a 12-hour bandh demanding filling up of vacant doctor posts in various hospitals in Angul district and early operation of the Talcher medical college.
While several commercial establishments remained closed, schools and colleges also remained closed on Thursday.
Similarly, the vehicular movement has been disrupted as agitators have blocked the roads by burning tyres.
Adequate police forces have been deployed to ensure that no law order situation occurs during the dawn to dusk bandh.
“People of Angul district are not getting proper health services as many doctor posts in PHCs, CHCs and DHCs are lying vacant for long. Despite our repeated requests, no efforts have been taken to fill up vacant posts. Finally, we took to the streets,” said agitators.
