Jumbo tramples man to death in Dhenkanal

Bhubaneswar: A person was trampled to death by an elephant at Banki Brahmapura in Goudakateni area in Dhenkanal district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Gobinda Chandra Debata of Brahmapura.

According to reports, Gobinda had gone to attend a call of nature when a jumbo attacked him. The pachyderm caught him by the trunk and then trampled him to death.

On being informed by villagers, forest and police officials have rushed to the village and started an investigation.

It may be noted that two villagers were killed by a tusker in two separate villages in Dhenkanal district yesterday.
