Ritual resumes at Jagannath temple in Puri

Bhubaneswar: After disturbances for the last two days, regular rituals resumed at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Wednesday.

The Suar and Mahasuars, who had been sitting in dharna, have called off the stir following a meeting held by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration.

It has been decided that the High Court would be appraised of the problems of the Shree Mandir.

It may be noted that regular rituals had been disrupted since Monday as the Suar and the Mahasuar Nijogs resented against an order of the Orissa High Court vis-a-vis entry to Garva Griha and stopped cooperating.

As a result, deities remained fast and spent sleepless nights for two days. Two truckloads of Mahaprasad were dumped as they could not be offered to the deities.

Meanwhile, The Odisha Assembly on Wednesday witnessed adjournment for the second day as Opposition Congress members protested against irregularities in the conduct of rituals in the Shree Jagannath Temple.

As the House met for the day, Opposition members trouped into the Well of the House and kept demanding an early solution to the impasse.

As they didn’t relent from sloganeering despite Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat’s requests, the latter adjourned the House till 11.30 am.
