Kandhamal: At least four Maoists were gunned down in an encounter with security personnel in last 24 hours in Odisha, said sources on Sunday.
Two Maoists were killed in police encounter in Sudulgumpha of Kandhamal district on Sunday. Four guns were seized from the spot.
After getting intelligence input about the presence of Maoists in the Sudulgumpha forest, a team of security personnel launched a combing operation and killed two members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) in the anti-Maoist operation.
On Sunday night too, at least two Maoists were killed near Dudukamal under Belpada block in Bolangir district in a police encounter.
The death of the four hardcore senior cadres of CPI (Maoist) in a span of 24 hours is a big blow to the outfit and will curtail their activities to a large extent.
