Sibal attacks BJP ahead of Modi’s visit to Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and former union minister Kapil Sibal on Saturday said Narendra Modi-led government is against the people of the country.

“There is neither Achhe din nor Sache din after four years. Mr Modi, we will move forward without you,” said Sibal as the NDA government completed four years at Centre.

Modi is scheduled to address a public gathering at Baliyatra ground in Cuttack on Saturday to mark the completion of four-year at Centre.

“Modi is only concerned for the corporate houses. This government is of Whatsapp, Facebook, Amazon and Paytm like companies. It is not for the people of the country,” Sibal said.

He asked what PM Modi has done for Odisha during his four years rule at Centre.

“Several industries including Nalco, Paradip, Rourkela Steel Plant and Hirakud were set up by the Congress in Odisha, whereas not a single industry has been set up by Modi here,” he said.

He said that Modi failed to keep his commitments that he had made to people during elections.

“Modi had told to make an eastern corridor covering over the 400-km long coastline in Odisha. But, he is yet to meet the commitment. He inaugurated many projects but did not proceed. Only entrepreneurs including Paytm, Amazon were benefitted due to Modi,” he added.

Sibal criticised the Prime Minister on the Mahanadi water dispute with Chhattisgarh government.

“Will Modi give the assurance that construction on Mahanadi river will be stopped? Will he tender an apology to the people of Odisha for the wrong he has done?” asked the Congress leader.
