Bijaya Kumar Nayak assumes as chairperson of Odisha State Law Commission

Bhubaneswar: Justice Bijaya Kumar Nayak, a retired judge of Orissa High Court, on Thursday assumed as chairperson of the Odisha State Law Commission.

Jeeban Ballav Mishra, additional secretary, Law Department shall be the secretary to the Odisha State Law Commission, said a statement.

The state government had formally decided in February 2016 to constitute the forum to be headed by either a retired judge of the Supreme Court or the High Court.

The State Law Commission has been constituted to aid and advice in matters relating to legal reforms and framing of new laws.
