Bus hits truck in Keonjhar, one killed, 18 injured

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic mishap, a bus helper was killed and 18 others were injured when a bus they were travelling in hit a truck on the rear at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district on Tuesday.

According to reports, a private bus named ‘Swastika’ was on its way from Barbil Kiriburu to Bhubaneswar when the driver lost control and hit it with a truck.

The helper of the bus, Mahendra Rout, died on the spot, said reports.

Injured passengers were rescued by locals and police personnel and sent to the Ghatagaon hospital.

Four of the critically injured were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The rest 14 persons are undergoing treatment at Ghatagaon hospital.

The police have initiated further investigation.
