Baijayant’s chopper row: DGCA requested to expedite probe

Bhubaneswar: Biju Patnaik International Airport director Suresh Chandra Hota on Wednesday said DGCA has been requested to expedite the process to decipher flight data recorder over former MP Baijayant Panda’s chopper row.

“We have requested the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to expedite the process to decipher flight data recorder. Additional documents have been handed over to DGCA today,” said Hota.

He said, “We are awaiting the action of DGCA. It will take further action over the chopper row since they are the regulator.”

Notably, the Puri police have sealed the hanger of IMFA at the city airport after Baijayant Panda’s chopper allegedly flew low over the eco-sensitive Chilika Lake. The incident created hullaballoo in the political circle in the state with the ruling BJD trying to corner Baijayant over the issue.

Meanwhile, the officials of IMFA, a company owned by Panda’s family, appeared before the police in Puri and submitted relevant documents.
