Cyclone Titli in Odisha: Ministerial panel to oversee restoration works

Odisha govt estimates Rs 2765 crore loss due to cyclone Titli, floods


Bhubaneswar: Odisha has incurred a damage amounting to Rs 2765 crore under the impact of cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ and subsequent floods while more than 60.1 lakh people were affected in the twin disasters.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi said additional estimation of damage is underway and a final report in this regard will be submitted to the Centre today.

“60.1 lakh population of 8125 gram panchayats in 128 blocks of 17 districts were affected. These districts are namely Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, Angul and Rayagada,” said Sethi.

He said 57 persons died in the cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ and subsequent flood, 34951 livestock got lost.

Similarly, 2,63,367 hectares of crop area and 56930 houses were damaged.
