Villagers protest tree felling for beer factory in Dhenkanal

Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at Balarampur village in Dhenkanal district after the administration started tree cutting to set up a beer factory in Jhinkaradihi forest in presence of police on Saturday.

A violent clash ensued between the villagers and police forces as the locals were protesting the felling of trees for setting up the beer factory.

Out of the 12 acres of land leased out to the beer company, 5 acres are forest land having Sal trees.
