Mercury soars as Odisha capital becomes hottest city


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital was the hottest place in the state at 39.2 degree Celsius on Friday. Bhubaneswar was the hottest city in India on Friday.

It was also the hottest day for Bhubaneswar in February this year. The mercury soared above 35 degree Celsius in 13 other cities across the state as well.

Malkangiri remained the hottest district in Odisha with 39.2 degrees Celsius followed by Cuttack with 37.2 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the temperature is likely to increase further on Saturday. However, the mercury will decrease after February 25 as the weather is predicted to remain partly cloudy.

The Met has also forecast rain from February 26 under the influence of Western disturbance.
